Public participation in the responsible use of antibiotics
Last week, we welcomed our citizen partners for their first in-person training session.
ASAP+ is our citizen engagement project, with the support of smarter medicine - Choosing Wisely Switzerland.
Most infections treated with antibiotics in ambulatory care are acute, common, and transient: an ear infection, a urinary tract infection, a respiratory illness. They happen to everyone. The typical patient is just anyone, and that is exactly who should have a seat at the table when stewardship priorities get shaped.
Our citizen partners will participate in strategic conversations within our Scientific Advisory Committee, co-create stewardship tools, and review communication materials from the perspective of the people these tools are designed for.
To get started, we ran a full introductory session: how infections spread, how antibiotics work, how resistance develops, and what we can do to slow it down.
Reach out if you need materials to start these conversations in your own network.
We like it when education spreads faster than resistance.
